FlightDegree.com is a clearly descriptive domain that would make a wonderful destination site to register for a flight degree course online. This would make a good name for a directory of the different flight schools and could drive a lot of revenue with the proper advertisers competing for the leads. Many schools offer a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science or other Aviation type degrees and these would probably make the best candidates for advertisers.
Monster.com has owned FlightDegree.org since 2005. The .net was recently registered.

"Flight Degree" is a legitimate term in flight education.
FlightDegree.com is a good investment if you consider that it should retain value as long as there is interest in learning to fly.
It's a good name which should retain its value. The market for flight training is big enough to warrant an investment in a decent website complete with a decent name.

I'd value this name at between $300 - $600. A good investment. collapse
I first got into the domain name industry in 1998 when I saw a posting on a forum about Jon Postel (the father of the DNS) and how this thing called DNS worked. From that moment on I became hooked on the prospect of actually owning (renting really) a piece of the internet.
I have since bought and sold many domain names and have learned a few things about the industry. I'm still excited, though, about the prospect of stumbling upon that once in a lifetime domain name deal. collapse

Something such as school or training would be great with "flight". Degree? I am a little bit skeptical. But on the other hand, there ARE flight degree programs, and a school offering such a program could definitely make a good use of such a name: it would bring a plus to such a school. Not a great name, but certainly not a hopeless name. For the right buyer, could go here in the $xxx - and probably more if the right end-user is found.

I think this is a great domain name. You would be surprised at how much information is available on obtaining an aviation degree, how many different types of certifications and programs there are out there, and how much money is involved in the aviation market. While most people know it as private flight school, many major commercial programs do refer to it as a degree program.

I think it is a valuable domain if you plan on opening or already have a school in regards to Aviation courses that provide degrees once the courses are completed.
Like any domain, I personally prefer a dot com over all the others (net, org, info, biz). However with a good marketing slogan and site design, I can see this taking off shall they target to an accurate audience. Lets just hope another search portal doesn't get launched, getting quite tired of them popping up everywhere.
I'd estimate the domain will sell for a few hundred, though I wouldn't be surprised if it got in the $1,000's area. Every buyer has their own self value surrounding their plans and ROI it could bring. collapse

I won't try to give you an appraisal while commenting on Bido.com auctions; I am horrible at them. But what I can do is give you a development perspective on the chances of a domain succeeding.
I've been a freelance web developer since 2000. I work both the creative side (graphics) and technical (scripting). It originally started with graphic design being my strong point until I learned there is a creative logical process to scripting. So far, so good.
Further more, I don't know why my Bido picture was cropped to make me look like I have a bowl haircut. I assure you I do not.

Personally, I have never heard of "flight schools" before - the term has too many alternatives for each word for people to look up or type in. It is a generic dotcom and would have potential the right enduser.
This platform is more one for resellers and in that market, it seems unlikely to reach above $100. More likely $15 to $45.

A friend is a commercial helicopter pilot. I was surprised to find that he had earned an "aviation degree". Anybody with a license can fly, but pilots with military experience or a degree are more likely to be hired and often earn higher pay.

Domain and brand consultant for 8 years. About 5 years ago, I lost a Godaddy back order of MarcusAdams.com. I decided then to learn everything I could about the lifespan of domains. I've since become an expert of the whole domain process. I am familiar with trademark case law, domain recovery, acquisitions, SEO, and marketing. I am always up to date on the domain market and the hot new domains and web ventures. I am a part time domain speculator, and my portfolio consists of 1500+ premium domains.
I give no nonsense appraisals, without the hangups that many traditional "domainers" have.
Domains that don't have key word appeal or receive large amounts of type in traffic can still be very brandable, and are thus still in high demand. collapse

Boring. Nobody refers to flight school as earning a flight degree -
Again, the .net is available and pilotdegrees.com makes about as much sense and still available at reg fee - get the terms right and you have a winner in this industry, without this - its just another dud.... which this is. Buy a paper plane, save the $1.

As a former pilot who recieved training while getting my BSBA, I can tell you that no one refers to their flight training as a 'degree'. Thumbs down on "Flight Degree". No one gets a degree in flying, you get a license. (Kind of like driving a car.)
Personally, I feel this is a 'newbie mistake' domain. In other words, at first glance it seems like it makes sense. But when you start thinking about the two word combo you realize that it does not make much sense.

Since 2003 I have been buying and selling domain names to both end users and other domain professionals. I believe content development will be key as CPC declines. For example, one of my projects, www.SchoolDelay.com, includes custom coding which allows schools to send out emergency notifications via SMS to their students. The site also includes articles and an ecommerce solution that rounds out the site and allows for new content to be placed periodically. With over 65,000 pages index the site draws quality and targeted traffic. Additionally, I have a professional background selling Analytical services to large companies who are trying to better understand their customers to improve customer relations with the end goal of increasing sales. I am looking to share my thoughts and experiences with potential buyers on the domains Bido places for sale. collapse
