PZF.com... A Three-letter dotCOM, not the best 3L you will find but nevertheless it is a 3L dotcom with NO RESERVE and starting at $1. The first thing that comes to mind for me is this: Whoever the lucky winner is will have a 3L domain that they can brand as three letters, the odds of a corporation using these three letters are slim, real slim. But for a BRAND to be built AROUND these three letters, its possible and what I foresee being it's best value builder.

More Info: * Possible Acronym: "Positive Zero Flow" * PZF is a file extension associated with GraphPad Prism Project * The PzF 44 2A1 (also called Lanze or Panzerfaust) is a disposable recoilless antitank weapon developed around 1960 and put into service by the Bundeswehr shortly thereafter.
My guesstimate for the ending price: $3100 which I believe will be a steal for the buyer.. collapse
I bought my first domain for $8, sold it within 72 hours for $500. I put the $8 back in my pocket and have operated in the black (positive) every since. I have a portfolio of a few hundred domains. My Portfolio is divided in 3 categories; Flips, Development, and Investment. The Flips category pays the bills for all the other domains, the development domains are for me to play with, and the investment portion is what I consider to be my retirement, on top of my IRA, 401K, etc.
I am a firm believer that the domain market is a secure investment with ALOT of room for growth and potential. Granted, the days of hand-regging one word domains and 3L.coms are over BUT ANYONE can make a name for themselves in this business with $8, a passion to learn, and time to dedicate.
This economy has provided a two fold experience for domainers, for some it is a time that portfolios must be skimmed down for financial reasons, for others it is a time to buy domains they couldn't of touched 2 years ago..
I am fortunate to be one of the investors who can buy in this current market. So that is what I am doing at the moment, a little development and a lot of buying.. collapse

To the consumer and end buyer, a three letter domain is equated with prestige.
Three letter non-word domains are only as valuable as end user demand. If there is no current demand, you might be in for a long investment. The idea is that if you hold the domain long enough, eventually, there will be a demand for it as new businesses are formed or go public.

Three letter non-word domains are only as valuable as end user demand. If there is no current demand, you might be in for a long investment. The idea is that if you hold the domain long enough, eventually, there will be a demand for it as new businesses are formed or go public.
Even if the letters do not form a word, the letters are usable in most languages, which gives three letter domains global appeal.
Some common letter abbreviations may be quickly turned for profit, as many companies share the same abbreviation. Less common letters such as Z and X have less demand in the English language due to the few words and names that start with those letters. However, X is popular in Chinese, and Z in German.
Abbreviations cannot be trademarked. Therefore, you can directly market the domain to companies that share the abbreviation.
You already have potential demand from the following developed site: PZF.de
In English, PZF does fail the radio test, but visually, the letters are very distinguishable. collapse

Domain and brand consultant for 8 years. About 5 years ago, I lost a Godaddy back order of MarcusAdams.com. I decided then to learn everything I could about the lifespan of domains. I've since become an expert of the whole domain process. I am familiar with trademark case law, domain recovery, acquisitions, SEO, and marketing. I am always up to date on the domain market and the hot new domains and web ventures. I am a part time domain speculator, and my portfolio consists of 1500+ premium domains.
I give no nonsense appraisals, without the hangups that many traditional "domainers" have.
Domains that don't have key word appeal or receive large amounts of type in traffic can still be very brandable, and are thus still in high demand. collapse

This clearly says "puuuuzzzzuuuufff". :D But 3 letter words are hot in the domain market. There is a file extension .pzf for some obscure company. I had a hard time finding anything to associate with it but that doesn't mean it would not make a great, easy to remember domain for a company, service, product, etc.
I believe this will sell in the $2.5k - $4k range.

I won't try to give you an appraisal while commenting on Bido.com auctions; I am horrible at them. But what I can do is give you a development perspective on the chances of a domain succeeding.
I've been a freelance web developer since 2000. I work both the creative side (graphics) and technical (scripting). It originally started with graphic design being my strong point until I learned there is a creative logical process to scripting. So far, so good.
Further more, I don't know why my Bido picture was cropped to make me look like I have a bowl haircut. I assure you I do not.

I have always felt it was better to buy a strong 4 letter domain than a bad lettered LLL.com. That being said, as long as others don't agree with me, then weaker LLL's like PZF will still have some value. Lately these weaker LLL's have been all over the market and they have gone as low as 3K. Again I would much rather have a strong CVCV.com and the declining rates of weaker LLL's and the strong pricing of CVCV's show that many others support my theory. To me buying this is like buying a share of a company you don't like but know you can probably make a little money on it. If this goes low enough I'm in but I think it will end up between 2.5K and 3.5K.

A brick and mortar business owner for 15 years, I've been preparing my online assault for the last ten. In real life I grow plants for a living but in the domain world I specialize in garden and plant related domain names. I have also been acquiring high quality 5 letter domain names as well. They say invest in what you know and I know plants, but now I also know domains. Like all domain owners I soon learned the business and have been buying and selling domains and websites ever since. I believe you can brand anything but if you have to brand the domain the less valuable it is. Domains are not my living but I have made an extra 25K a year "goofing around" so I feel I have the experience and resume to provide honest advice. collapse

3 letter domains are hard to comment. They are valuable because they are short, and are sought after because of that. Even the ones which having no meaning like pzf.com, can sell for hundreds if not thousands depending on the bidders. This one will not get much traffic unless it is advertised somehow but, you can always resell it in a few years possibly for much more.

I have been a domain investor for several years now and have learned from some of the very best domainers when I started at the age of 20. The domains I have acquired, mostly dot coms, have been put through an extensive evaluation by me and therefore my portfolio consists of what I feel are quality domains. With my experience in domaining I can help give expert advice on the domains which are picked and can offer help that is needed.
Check out the "My Stuff" section for a sample list of the names that I have for sale or email me at phillyphenom@gmail.com for a complete list. collapse

Perhaps purchasing the domain and developing a brand around it or brandable ideas will, over the long term provide a strong return for the buyer. Researching investment fund names or foundations will look after the F, whilst zoological could take of the Z (The Polish Zoological Foundation)
A great idea could be "Picture, Zoom, Flash" an ecommerce site for cameras and photography equipment. Crikey these nuggets of gold just keep coming!
On a serious note, 3 character dot coms are sort after investments and bought at the right price do generate healthy returns. collapse

Two strong letters sandwich a "Z" and make for a reasonable, but not full premium letter combination. This may have a somewhat limited end-user potential among current options within the English speaking world, but these letters hold strong potential usage in other languages, with German possibilities coming first to mind, as "Z" in German is seen as a much stronger and more common letter.

As an aside, I used to own this domain about 5 years ago. I remember selling it at the time for $550 and thinking it was a great sale and great return at the time. I have to imagine this one will well exceed that price in this auction (thus, even as LLL domains have had their recent valuations fluctuate, they are still well above where they were just a few years back).
Good luck to all bidders. LLL.com domains are looking ripe for great investment returns at these current price levels.
