Determining if a name is valuable should be a breeze for most domain buyers and sellers. Putting a price on a valuable domain is a different story, and a most sought-after skill. In an auction platform, the bidders determine price, and this will typically be best represented when many buyers are in the same market at the same time.

All single word domains have value. A harp is obviously a very common musical instrument, and implies a highly brandable signature. We've observed over the past few years that not only does Google greatly favor older domains (this one has continuous registration going back to 2001), but that branding can create its own intrinsic valuation. “Harps” also reminds me of Harps Food in the Midwest US or Harp Lager in the UK.

Another one of the things I think is great about this domain is there are no recent sales of "harp" in memory. Some people like to talk about how many extensions a domain is registered in. For a name like this the question should be how many primary extensions is the name utilized in? “Harp” and “Harps” as a .Com .Net and .Org are all used by very long established companies, and it’s unlikely they will ever be made available for public sale. This makes the name all the more valuable to me. Simple, short and easily memorable names get harder to find every day.

If you like to obsess over serps or monthly queries, you'll get a part of the picture. Averaging about 50k phrase searches per month and with bidding in the $1 range. This would put core top-ranked click value at about $5,000 per year. Of course this doesn't account for SEO work, back-linking, etc that is required to reach this figure or the time to get there. Add in the rarity, frequency of usage and overall strength and brandability of this name and I think you are in the upper four-figures to low five-figures range.

This is one of those events you just don’t want to miss regardless of your intentions.
