My wife and I have been in the domain business since 2004. We currently control a domain portfolio of over 3,000 names, with .com being by far the most represented amongst them.
We buy, sell and trade on a daily basis and have successfully completed three low to mid $x,xxx in 2009. One of which, Twittle.com sold right here at Bido and all of which were hand registrations.
I like the combination, however, those sites you list have become popular due to an incredible amount of marketing and hard work from Michael Arrington.
That being stated, the word "Crunch" is now a part of the online vernacular and works ideally as an adjunct the this domain name.
I think this is vastly superior to the complete spelling of Domain Name, not just because it's shorter but moreover due to how smooth DN Crunch sounds.
I don't have any idea what this will go for, and development is truly the key to it's success post auction, but I like it very much!
