Jean-Francois Mayer is a French-speaking Swiss consultant and researcher. Historian by training, author of ten books, he spent several years in social sciences research and subsequently in civil service. He is currently the head of a new research institute (Religioscope) based in Fribourg, Switzerland, and the owner of a small consulting company in international affairs.
JF Mayer has developed several websites and is interested in domain names since the early 2000s, at the time of the .info landrush. No longer a mere observer of the scene, he has recently started to become active in domaining and has launched in 2009 Name Tactic for the purpose of promoting, developing and selling quality domain names.

A worthy cause, no doubt. From a domaining perspective, I have noticed that there are a number of active domains on the topic, several of them integrating the expression "animal rescue" in their name. So there is obviously a demand for such a name. And the .us wouldn't be a limitation for an organization operating in the USA.
I assume that many of the charitable organizations working in the field would be somewhat reluctant to invest donors' money in bidding on a domain name. On the other end, I could easily imagine a generous donor willing to buy the name and make it available for an animal rescue organization.

It is a good idea that Bido also opens its doors to "alternative" or "exotic" TLDs. While not as desirable as COM, they may offer interesting possibilities for people who want a generic name, but cannot afford it in one of the top TLDs.
Beside "specialized" TLD such as TV, CC and WS are presently the best options for a "generalist" alternative TLD. Right now, I invest more in WS names, because there is more of a market for them - but if I would need ot buy an alternative TLD for my own use, I would probably prefer the CC, which I find to be rather elegant - and thus quite adequate for attorneys. Moreover, CC does not sound like the exotic extension that it is: few people will think about Cocos Islands, but they will probably associate it with carbon copy (and especially its use for e-mail).
I do not expect it to reach a very high price, but if a enduser would buy it, he would definitely own a solid name, clearly generic, easy to use and to remember.
Although I do not invest in CC right now, I felt even tempted to bid!

Too bad the plural is already taken, my endorsement would have been stronger if both would have been sold together.
Anyway, this is an interesting name, especially for somebody who would like to start a news website on business mergers, or a consultancy business in the field. If I would be the buyer, I would definitely put at least a newsfeed on business mergers on the domain while waiting to make full use of it.

The name is a little bit long for my taste, but clearly descriptive. As a domainer, I would not buy it and hope for traffic. But I know cases of companies buying a wide range of domain names in their field and redirecting them to specific sections of their main website, or creating minisites in order to promote their products. If I would be the domain manager of such a company, or if I would have access to some companies in that sector, I would consider such a domain: because it is not just "brandable", but it describes precisely a product, with an adjective commonly associated with it.
I wouldn't dare, however, to suggest what the right price would be.

That is a clever hack! I am not the most enthusiastic supporter of hacks of all kinds, but this one just works! With "debate" being for sale in most extensions, I would normally not recommend to buy the .it. But the hack is so good... I would see some of the uses suggested by the seller. Probably not a high commercial value, unless one has a specific plan for it, but a very nice domain name anyway - the kind of name one is happy to own!

While I would obviously much prefer organicdress.com, this one still has a potential - not so much for somebody parking it, but for an end-user involved in the sale or promotion of organic clothes. Within the context of a wider awareness of environmental issues and a taste for "natural" fabrics, there is a future for such names. If the buyer does not intend to develop it, I would suggest to the future owner to be ready to keep it until the right buyer comes - it might take a few years.

The best strategy for a person buying this website would be to create a small information website on equity grants - all the basic information, main links, etc. This could work.
Obviously, not the greatest name, certainly not attractive if one looks at it from a domainer's perspective - but I always attempt to keep in mind that the Web is not primarily meant for domainers, but for searching, networking, selling, buying...

Something such as school or training would be great with "flight". Degree? I am a little bit skeptical. But on the other hand, there ARE flight degree programs, and a school offering such a program could definitely make a good use of such a name: it would bring a plus to such a school. Not a great name, but certainly not a hopeless name. For the right buyer, could go here in the $xxx - and probably more if the right end-user is found.

I would definitely have prefered the .com for that name. But after buying recently a name related to another type of dogs (and that was a .ws), I realized how such names attract people with a strong interest for dogs. Quite easy to develop, with a few articles on French Poodles, and some nice pictures.
I would hope that the seller has contacted some breeders and that one of them would buy the name. It would be a real asset for a breeder.

Again a good .cc - and being an historian myself, I do obviously have a weakness for that one!
The fact that .com, .net and .org are active websites, not for sale (unclear for .info), definitely increases the value of the .cc.
Just look at any newspaper stand in America or in Europe: I am always amazed to see the number of historical magazines. No need of having an academic training for being in love with history. This means that history.cc can easily be developed in a variety of ways. Of course, if it is to emerge, it cannot be a replica of History.com (a very attractive layout, that one!). The .cc TLD - with its association with "carbon copy" - would fit especially well a website presenting, commenting, introducing, etc., historical documents - e.g. starting from one or several documents (what all historians do) in order to explain an historical event or topic. Just an idea in case the buyer is eager to develop it...
